Every few years, the wellness world latches onto something new. Alkaline water. Celery juice. Whatever Gwyneth Paltrow is selling this week.

So when hydrogen water started popping up everywhere, my first reaction was... skepticism. Strong skepticism.

But here's the thing — I actually looked into it. Like, really looked into it. And what I found surprised me.

Wait, What Is Hydrogen Water?

Let's start with the basics because I had the same question.

Hydrogen water is just regular water with extra molecular hydrogen (H2) dissolved in it. Not hydrogen peroxide (that's H2O2 — very different, please don't drink that). Just pure hydrogen gas infused into water.

"But wait," I hear you saying, "water already has hydrogen in it. It's literally H2O."
