Just got your Aiper in the mail? Nice. Let's get it running. This takes maybe 10 minutes—most of that is just waiting for it to charge.

What's in the Box

  • The robot itself
  • Charging dock or cable
  • Floating handle (depends on the model)
  • Filter basket
  • Manual (which you probably won't read, so that's why this guide exists)
Step 1

Charge It First

Before you do anything, plug it in and let it charge fully. Usually takes 2-4 hours depending on your model. The light turns solid green when it's ready.

I know you want to test it immediately. Trust me, just wait for the full charge.

Step 2

Prep Your Pool

Quick checklist:

  • Fish out any big stuff—branches, leaves, that pool float nobody claimed
  • Make sure the water level is normal
  • Chemistry should be balanced (you're doing that anyway, right?)

Don't skip this. Big debris can clog the filter or jam the brushes.

Step 3

Put It in the Water

Here's the trick nobody tells you: submerge it at an angle.

If you just drop it in flat, air gets trapped and it floats around like an idiot. Tilt it, let the bubbles escape for about 30 seconds, then let go. It should sink right to the bottom.

Step 4

Hit the Button

Most Aipers have one button:

  • Press once = standard clean
  • Press twice = wall-climbing mode (if your model has it)

That's it. Walk away. Go do something else.

Step 5

Let It Do Its Thing

Depending on your model, it'll run for 90-150 minutes. When it's done:

  • It shuts off automatically
  • Some models park themselves near the edge for easy retrieval
Step 6

Clean Up

When it's done:

  1. Pull it out using the handle
  2. Rinse the whole thing with a hose
  3. Pop out the filter basket and rinse that too
  4. Store somewhere shaded (sun destroys plastic over time)

Takes 2 minutes.

Tips From Someone Who's Done This a Lot

  • Run it 2-3 times a week. More frequent = less buildup = cleaner pool always.
  • Clean the filter after every use. Seriously, just rinse it. Takes 30 seconds and keeps suction strong.
  • Check the brushes monthly. When they're worn down, the cleaner just pushes dirt around instead of scrubbing.
  • Don't leave it in direct sunlight. When you're not using it, keep it in the garage or under a cover.

When Things Go Wrong

It won't turn on:

  • Is it charged? Check the battery.
  • Is the filter seated properly? Pop it out and reseat it.

It keeps floating:

  • You didn't get the air out. Submerge at an angle and hold it underwater for 30 seconds.

It's missing spots:

  • First time? Run it 2-3 cycles. Pools that haven't been robot-cleaned need extra passes.
  • Check if the brushes are worn. Old brushes = bad scrubbing.

Battery dies too fast:

  • Try a full discharge, then full recharge cycle.
  • Clogged filters make the motor work harder and drain the battery faster.
